Chassis is the CSS framework I worked on at Arnold Clark from 2016 to 2019. As far as I know, it’s still in use today.
It was built to bring consistency to Arnold Clark’s digital products, a lot of which were built on completely different stacks. So it was deliberately designed to be as simple as possible to drop into any project: a single stylesheet, with no JavaScript to wire up.
We used utility classes before Tailwind was a thing, taking inspiration from Tachyons and Bootstrap.
It might show its age next to how people build things now, with React, CSS modules and Tailwind. But it solved a real problem at the time, and in good HTML and CSS fashion it has stood the test of time. Simple, robust solutions last.
I’m very proud of the work we did on it, technically, in the design, and in owning it.
